Was super stoked to see this come up in my podcast feed. Im a long time Adam Carolla listener, and huge TG fan. Pretty good, albeit short episode, with some slight awkwardness when discussing the “fracas”. Even if your not a an Ace fan, probably still worth a listen.

I just listened to it earlier! Pretty good, my only complaint is that it wasn’t long enough. Hopefully they start doing more podcasts, I would love to hear them on Bill Burrs!

Yeah, I’d been waiting for this episode since Carolla posted that photo of them at his studio.

I don’t know, kinda mixed feelings on this episode, like Spider-Man finally meeting Batman or something (dorky analogy.) Not sure if I’m reading into it but I sensed this awkward dynamic of the TG guys not being on the same level with Carolla. Like, it wasn’t quite ‘a handful of car guys chatting.’ To me it felt like Carolla was blue collar (which he is) and Clarkson/May/Hammond were pseudo-royalty (which, I guess they are). Like Carolla was out of his league a bit? I wonder if he felt that way or stressed before the taping at all, though I gotta say I think he did a pretty good job overall and held his own. Like I said, maybe it’s just my interpretation

I squirmed a little at Carolla’s insistence that Clarkson check out his Miura.

Surprised to hear Jeremy mention the De Tomaso Pantera as “an unbelievably good-looking car in its stock form.” Refreshing to hear their interest in a car that often gets shit from car snobs.

When does the Pantera ever get shit from car snobs? It’s an amazing looking car.

Idk, i felt the only real awkwardness was when Carolla kept pushing a bit about the “Fracas”. The only other parts that were sort of awkward, were the lack of knowledge by Carolla about the newer sportscars they were all talking about(understandable considering how much stuff Adam has ok his plate). Still entertaining overall.

Yeah. Definitely felt like they were just there as part of a fast promo tour. Would have been really entertaining if Gina and Bald were there and did the regular style show. Yeah, and its possible they could be on other podcasts as part of the same promotional stuff.

I agree with you that it’s amazing looking but look at the values compared to its contemporaries (say, from Italy or Germany). I don’t think it gets respect from some groups because De Tomaso doesn’t have the (motorsport) pedigree/history that Ferrari or Porsche has, even though it should if you check off all the right boxes: beautiful styling, lower production numbers, BIG power/engine. Yet, they can still be had for a relative steal compared to something Italian with a smaller displacement V12 engine.

Thats true. Though I think the Pantera is still one of the best looking cars from that period. Always love seeing the line up of them at the Woodward Cruise.
